Complete Sheep Washing Process

When getting ready to shear, we suggest a 2-part washing and shearing strategy. Follow the steps to learn more about getting your sheep its cleanest and closest shear.

1. Use a livestock blower to blow out as much excess dirt as possible.
2. Wet sheep from head to tail to remove additional dirt, lanolin, and grime. Make sure to close off ears when using water on the head and face.
3. Work in Degreasing Shampoo with your hands.
4. Rinse until soap is completely gone, remembering to close off the ears and make sure the nozzle pressure is not too hard.
5. Rub Conditioning Cream into the leg wool. Allow to sit 5-10 minutes, and rinse.
6. Blow-dry the body from bottom to top with both motors on, but leave the body slightly damp. Spray Leg Pop onto leg wool and comb in with a Mini Wide Range Brush . Allow this to remain in the legs.
7. Now you're ready for a quick shear using clippers and fine blades.
8. Pour roughly 4 oz. Brightening Shampoo into the bottom of a clean bucket, and fill the bucket with about 3-4 inches of water. Be sure to create a lot of soap suds as you fill the bucket with water.
9. Take a soft bristle brush and lightly brush suds on hide, working against the wool.
10. Use a blower to blow out the suds and loosen/free up any remaining wool.
11. Shear one more time using surgical blades.
